Quantum Painting · 1000 California Cloud
A generative artwork drawn from a thousand California skies; each viewing combines four cloud images in chance alignment, forming a singular moment that will never repeat — one that exists only when seen.
1000 California Cloud is a visual presentation in quantum observation. Before viewing, every possible image exists virtually, suspended in probability. When the viewer arrives, the algorithm selects four at random, merging them into a singular visual event — probability collapsing into form. Participants may claim a singular moment as a fine art print: a record of one fleeting outcome among a trillion possibilities, never to repeat.

Environmental painting
SideOfBarn 2020/2026, California-Garden / 7-Redwoods, SF-Blue and SF-GREEN — large-format work on recycled coastal redwood and site-specific installation, extending a lineage Shaw has pursued since the 1960s in the environmental “art-land” of California.
When presented with HD laser projection through Shaw’s COLOR2020 internet-as-vehicle work, these paintings become environmental new-media — drawing attention to the coastal redwood ecosystem and the lands they inhabit.
